ABSTRACT
This article outlines how genograms can be used in modern movements in systemic family therapy and training programs. Apart from traditional methods of genogram interpretation, it can be also used to analyse and promote a change in the families' narrations. Furthermore a genogram is also a useful technique in attachment narrative therapy which constitutes an integrated approach to systemic practice. This paper presents a short description of attachment narrative therapy. Additionally, the genogram is extensively used in family therapy training programs. The cultural genogram is an effective training tool to built both cultural awareness and sensitivity.
