ABSTRACT
The article refers to psychoanalytic concepts of internal and external reality in order to present some specific difficulties experienced by therapists who work with adolescent patients. The author tries to answer the question if the pressure put by the therapist on external reality, (like change of the family, behavioural habits, neurochemistry of brain) is based on a reliable diagnosis or maybe on an unconscious countertransference and implicit institutional pressure. This last factor is much more significant in psychotherapy of adolescents then in the psychotherapy of adults.
