ABSTRACT
The article presents the Christine Padesky's newest approach to cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) of personality disorders. The paper explains the role of core beliefs and underlying assumptions in the formation of personality pathology. Some people develop rigid and inflexible beliefs and assumptions which lead to rigid interpersonal strategies. When core beliefs and underlying assumptions are relatively inflexible, treatment should focus on constructing new beliefs rather than the testing of old beliefs.
