ABSTRACT
The aim of this article is to familiarize the reader with the method of therapeutic work called multi-family therapy (MFT), in which several families participate simultaneously. The authors are presenting the process of development of multi-family therapy around the world, which has been continuing from the 40s of the previous century. The text describes the possibilities of using the multi-family therapy in treatment of different mental disorders, in diverse institutional settings, as well as in different forms tailored to families’ needs. This form of therapy can be used, among others, with multi problem families, is employed in treatment of eating-disordered patients, teenagers and their families, and becomes useful when it comes to cooperation with schools. The authors recommend this form of psychotherapy in our country and they indicate that it deserves organizing proper courses on teaching of its rules and including it in therapeutic care offered in our country.
