ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to define the relationship between anger, defense style and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Defenses were examined as a possible mediator and moderator of PTSD. The PTSD group differ from non-PTSD in intensity of projection, displacement, reaction formation and pseudoaltruism, that were higher in PTSD. Displacement correlates negatively with the symptoms and pseudoaltruism correlates positively. Schizoid fantasies correlate positively with the B - group symptoms. Intensity of anger was the same in both of groups. The results suggest that the defense mechanisms play a role in regard to PTSD.
