ABSTRACT
In this article, the author presents a review of a construct of mentalization as it is developed by P. Fonagy and his collaborators. Mentalizing is the process of making sense of mental states in oneself and other persons in terms of subjective states (e.g. wishes, desires, beliefs) and mental processes. The concept of mentalization is rooted in the attachment theory and theory of mind (ToM). Mentalization is assessed by the measure of the reflective function.
