ABSTRACT
Alexithymia and dissociation are considered mechanisms which help coping with traumatic experiences. The author analyses the relationship between alexithymia and dissociation on theoretical grounds and reviews the research data concerning that relationship. Alexithymia and dissociation are constructs that overlap in their part that is dependent of negative affect or stress. The model of interactions between alexithymia and dissociation is presented with respect to Bucci's multiple code theory.
